Lattice Lamp
Hannover-based Jonas Winkler re-imagines traditional Japanese Kumiko joinery with his charismatic Lattice Lamp. The project capitalizes on Shaper Workstation’s workholding versatility and Origin’s precision is essential when cutting and fitting the delicate castle joinery. With an estimated build time of two days, Winkler’s lamp is a perfect weekend project for the progressing Origin and Workstation user.

Create a sense of quiet calm in your home with Winkler’s Lattice Lamp. Emitting a soft, tranquil light through Shoji paper, the lamp will add to any interior with its traditional profile and striking craftsmanship. Kumiko is the term for the refined latticework on the sliding doors and decorative transoms found in a traditional Japanese interior. The lamp is a perfect size for a bedside table, windowsill or mantelpiece.
You’ll cut four beautiful Kumiko style panels using Origin and a 1/8" up-spiral cutter.
You’ll carefully apply shoji paper to one side of your Kumiko panels using a spray adhesive.
You'll combine Origin and Workstation to make the delicate castle joinery that will allow you to build the lamp frame.
You’ll follow 87 beautifully illustrated instruction steps which will guide you from your first cut to your last.
