Instructions

Before you begin, measure the outer diameter of the lid on the mason jar, the diameter of your dowel rod and the thickness of your material. You’ll need these to make entries in your design. The SVG includes the measurements I used. And adjusted with offsets as needed. The project uses a 3/8-inch dowel. For layers 2 and 4, helix 3/8-inch-deep holes (already in design). These will hold the dowel rod that supports the dispenser wheel. The length of the dowel rod is (.75" + the thickness of your material) For the dispenser wheel, helix a slightly larger diameter hole (than the dowel rod) all the way through. This will allow the wheel to spin freely (.01/.02 is enough). Before assembly sand the top and bottom of the server wheel. It needs to be slightly thinner than the thickness of the material you use. This will allow room for rotation. Assemble starting at the bottom layer, align and glue. Glue the dowel rod in the bottom (layer 4). Do not get glue on the serving wheel/dowel rod. Place the mason jar lid in the hole on the top so that the jar faces forward when tightened. Finish with some sanding and food grade wax/oil. The next one I build will use better material. I’ve thought of using resin in the bottom of the serving tray (that’s pocketed out) to dress things up. I’ll also plan to use a bowl bit on the pocketed area of the bottom layer.
