Instructions

IMPORTANT, before you start. Wood needs to be dead flat and consistent width to fit properly with no gaps. Make the box top first. Helix the cribbage board holes at 2.5mm diameter (as per plan) and then set offset at -0.2mm and helix them all again (to get a cleaner hole). This is a bit labourious but results in a better finish, (so glad the helix function exists). DON’T FORGET TO HELIX HOLES FOR MAGNETS (I did).. Typically I cut to a depth around 90% of the material, then trim with the band saw, and flush cut bottom edge on my router table. If you have long enough bits, a spoil board and the piece is well stuck down then you can cut all the way through. Flip top over, stick it down and grid it. Lay the top card design at 0,0 Ensure the piece is dead level. Go carefully on engraving the cards image. Set depth in 0.3mm increments till you get image you are happy with. Base Box. Cut the base outline and top edge indent to depth. Test fit already made top on base as you go. Make incremental -0.05mm offsets on top edge indent till you get a snug fit. Cut the pocket for the cards using the rough cut bit in 3 or 4mm depth increments. Cut to width with the 6mm bit. Then cut the pocket for the pegs. DON’T FORGET TO SWAP BITS AND HELIX HOLES FOR MAGNETS .. When glueing in the magnets, be aware of North & South Alignment. Otherwise they may repel the lid instead of attract it. Board will accommodate pegs with max 2.3mm diameter at the narrowest end. Waddingtons playing cards will fit still in their box (they are a great travel size pack). Standard size (wider) cards will fit out of their box. Have fun on the road playing Cribbage !!!!
