My first project with the SO. I wanted to make something that used both the plate and the workstation, made a mortise and utilized the accurate geometry possible with the Origin. 1:8 for hand cut dovetails; 10deg for table saw cut tails.

Materials

0.2-0.250in thick maple hardwood. It’s a balance between being too thick and creating parallax when used to mark a dovetail and too thin and being flimsy.

Of course one could also use brass.

Tools

Shaper Origin

Plate

Workstation

1/8" spiral bit

90° engraving bit

220 grit self adhesive sandpaper

Instructions

Make sure hardwood is stuck well to the workbench, with a spoiler board in between. The usual caveats when using the plate with small pieces of hardwood. Stick sandpaper to the cross piece to help keep it in place when using it.
