Wish you'd gotten the closed-throat router plane? Now it can be yours! Creates much greater surface area support for when you need it. Your stock for the plate should be very flat. To situate the strip that fits into the fence groove, I placed the strip in the groove of the plane and then glued the whole thing down to the plate (careful to not glue the plane itself down). Once the strip could stay in place I removed the plane to finish with tapping the screws.
