A 6" square bowl in Thuya Burr. I recently got a AAA grade block of Thuya and wanted a simple design to show the figuring off. This was the result.

Care has to be taken to grid well because you're going to have to grid from both sides of the block to cut this. I've gone into detail on that in a previous project (heptagonal bowl). The order of cutting is: Grid workpiece with top side upwards With the square end bit, rough out the inside of the bowl Cut the perimeter down to 20mm With ball nose bit, cut the inside of the bowl from the centre outwards Flip the workpiece and carefully re-grid to the same corner (very important) With the square end bit, cut the base relief to a depth of 1mm Optionally rough out some of the outside curve but be careful not to separate the waste wood as this will reduce the amount of wood taped down. With the round nosed bit, shape the outside of the bowl from the 25mm depth of cut in towards the foot of the bowl. Now shape the rest of the outside, being aware of when the waste wood will separate. Lots of sanding
