A copy of a stool found in an Egyptian tomb, C3400 years old. Timeless design. This is the project that I invented ZedSled for. Unless you know another way to make 18"x14" pocket cuts, you'll need ZedSled for this.

Instructions

This is another ZedSled project. In fact, its the project I invented ZedSled for. The design I was copyiing is at least 3400 years old (see the last photo) but I think it still looks contemporary. I don't think these instructions are complete, because so much of this project was experimental. I'm posting it on the hub imore as a demonstration of ZedSled but if someone does want to try this, get in touch and I'll try to fill in the gaps in the instructions for you. Dimensions: 442mm x 342mm x 350mm seat thickness 30mm legs 30mm x 30mm square section stretcher 30mm x 24mm section dowels 16mm stock for top 57mm x 57mm PAR ash Cutting list: top stiles: 57mm x 57mm x 442mm x 2 top rails: 57mm x 57mm x 276mm x 7 legs: 30mm x 30mm x 335mm x 4 long stretchers: 30mm x 24mm x 422 x 2 short stretchers : 30mm x 24mm x322 x 2 Cutting order: tabouret top mortices.svg (25mm deep) tabouret top tenons.svg (4 different heights, all 24mm deep) NB Cut tenons from highest to lowest and back up to highest, giving 2 pieces at each height except the lowest one. Seven pieces total tabouret seat underside.svg NB Cut diminishing radii as outside cuts with 8mm round nose bit. tabouret seat top.svg NB Cuts are inside so start at the middle. I recommend pocketing out the bulk of the wood first tabouret leg mortices.svg NB Machine 17mm off top of each leg post first then cut mortices 25mm deep. This was not done when cutting the underside curves because the longer leg posts provided orthogonal support when cutting the top. Dowel spindles : Short side spindles Vertical spindle:- Height of rail (B) = 100mm Cut depth for underside at centre of edge and 15mm in from edge (D) = 14.55mm Height of underside centre @15mm in from edge.
