That's a bold claim but the ZedSled bridges some of the functionality gap between SO and a flat-bed CNC. ZedSled provides a stable, accurate Z-axis independent of your workpiece, allowing huge pocket cuts without SO falling down the hole it's digging. ZedSled has a griddable work space of 330mm x 600mm (13" x 24") and takes only about 3.5mm off your maximum cutting depth (Less than Plate).

Instructions

See Forum post https://community.shapertools.com/t/a-whole-new-way-to-use-shaper/13500 NB. The instructions have been update (26/5/2024) to reflect an issue with Gen1 Shaper Origins and handle clearance. (14/06/2024) The forum post now includes details of a Workstation compatible version made with the same kit of materials. Also added is an SVG for the rear alignment bar, made out of the offcut from the carriage (waste not want not). (30/03/2025) My thanks to Wayne20 for his video review of his Zedsled build. I've added a link to it and recommend you watch it before considering your own build.
