I designed my own box joints rather thn using the on-tool facility because I made the third one 3mm wider than all the others. This is to allow me to assemble the box then cut it in half. 3mm Being lost in the separation. I made this cut with Shaper, using a 2mm bit to cut a 2.5mm swathe through each side, leaving .25mm for sanding on each edge. The sycamore tops and bottoms were rabbetted to fit into the sides by 5mm with a 3mm top. The logo was cut with a 2mm bit to a depth of 2mm then sealed with clear epoxy before being filled with black epoxy The brass hinges are made as per my previous project so the SVGs for them are not included in this project. The brass latch is cut from 1/2" x 1/8" bar stock and the SVG assumes the base of the Sam Browne is 9mm. The sam browne stud and the two chicago screws all got upgraded to M3 countersunk screws. The chicago screws I used have 10mm heads and 10mm shanks. (4mm diameter) so the holes were counter-bored to 6mm depth, leaving 4 mm of shank protruding. The pivot assembly includes 2 0.5mm teflon washers to keep it smooth and avoid scuffing the woodwork. Because the brass is a touch over 3mm (+ 1mm of washers) the screw applies pressure, hence moderate resistance. The net effect is a very pleasing, quality feel to the latch. Final finish is with Rubio Monocoat Pure.
