A variation on the use of inlays to joint two boards. For this entry bench, I used inlays in the shape of boots. Legs are assembled to the seating with tenons and mortises. A stretcher traverses the legs.

Two hardwood boards about 78 inches long, one inch thick.
Another piece of wood for the 5 inlays.
The two boards don't need to be the same width. For this bench, the one in the back is 5 inches wide and the front one is 6 inches wide. Cut the tenons first on the Workstation. Then cut the boards with the pockets on another working plan. Test the inlays in the pockets. Make the adjustments with the slightliest negative offset. Don't forget to be generous with the double sided tape. Cut dadoes on the stretcher in order to slide it in the space between the two pieces of each leg. Assemble/glue the legs, slide/glue the stretcher then assemble/glue the top seating.
