A simple but very nice project to be done with the Origin. If you need a nice last minute gift and you have some precious wood scraps laying around this bottle opener might be a project for you. I the project picture I used apple wood.

Materials

-Wood with dimensions of at least 170mmx60mmx20mm

- Rockler Inset Bottle Openers (link in the instructions)

- P120 and P240 grit sandpaper

- Oil and/or Wax to finish the surface

Tools

- Shaper Origin

- 6mm bit

- Handheld router or router table

- 6mm radius roundover bit

Instructions

I use the Workstation to cut the bottle opener. Starting with the pocket for the metal inset which I cut 1.6mm deep. The inner pocket is cut 10mm deep. You can cut the hanging hole if you like, but that's up to you. Depending on the type of wood I cut the outer shape in steps of 3-5 mm per pass. I use a 6mm roundover bit to round the edges except the parts where the metal inset is placed. The metal insets I use can be found here. https://www.rockler.com/rockler-inset-bottle-openers-6-pack You can use any insets which are available online and change the diameters of the cuts accordingly. The YouTube video shows how I made those bottle openers.
