Instructions

Some additional information : https://community.shapertools.com/t/info-about-simple-box-rabbet/9546 Use the Shaper Workstation in the normal way to fix and grid the sheet of wood. If you want you can start by making a jig. I have included a SVG for the Workstation. The jig is based on a 18 mm MDF board of 400 x 137 mm. The file is SB 40 Spoilerboard WS.svg. The jig shape is pocketed with a 8 mm scrubber bit or the biggest bit that you have in 2 mm increments. Total depth 6 mm. Finnish the shape with straight up cutting bit with an inside cut. The corners are cut with an offset of -0,5 mm for a dogbone shape. Cut the four holes for attaching to the horizontal holder of the Workstation. First the pockets 13 mm deep then the 6 mm holes through the MDF. Load the Top and Bottom.svg first. Position the wood board on the Workstation and use double-sided tape to hold it in place. You need the tape to hold the parts for the last cuts. Import the file SB 40 Top and Bottom.svg Use 3 mm cutter for all the cuts. Do not forget to Z-touch before cutting. First cut the outline of the shapes with the cutter set to 0,5 mm. This helps to check the position of the elements on your wood. Then cut the groove with inside cut to the depth of 3 mm (2 x 1,5mm) +/- 0,1mm and the finger ‘hole’ 2 mm deep. Then the outside to the depth of the wood (4x 1,5 mm). Note: if you board is not exactly 6 mm you have to adapt the half dimensions +/- 3mm. Remove all the cut parts The Sides: Position the wood board on the Workstation and use double-sided tape to hold it in place. You need the tape to hold the parts for the last cuts. Make sure to have tape in the top left side for the two sides. Before you import the SB 40 Sides 2 up.svg remove the SB 40 Top and Bottom.svg file and routing history from your workspace. Import the SVG file and position it top-left corner. First the four horizontal grooves are inside cut across the full length of the board at 3 mm depth (2x 1,5mm) Check the width of the groove with the Top, you just cut, so that it fits. If needed use an offset to make the groove wider. The vertical rabbets are cut to half the thickness of your wood (3 mm) Then the outside is cut is made to full depth in 1,5 mm increments as outside cuts Remove all the cut parts Now all the parts are cut and the box can be assembled and should fit perfectly together.
