Never underestimate the value of a handmade gift! This is an easy ornament project - one that you can mass produce for the holidays. The front pocket receives a piece of card stock that can be decorated to your heart's content. Customize the reverse side with an engraving of your choice. The snowflake came from Shaper Labs.

Materials

1/4" Walnut (3.5" x 36" project boards)

300# Card Stock

Oramask 813

Cricut Maker (for cutting perfect circles)

One Shot 101-L Lettering Enamel White

Walrus Oil

Ribbon, string, or hook

Tools

Engraving cutter 60 degree (stock)

1/8" cutter (stock)

1/2" plunge cut straight bit (for the pocket)

Instructions

Using some 3.5" x 36" walnut project panels, I glued up a few boards and cut out ornaments with the worlds most expensive (and awesome) cookie cutter ;-) The pocket is cut at 1/16" deep. Use the cutter of your choice, but don't forget to change your depth settings when you move to that part of the project. Ask me how many I ruined...! I cut the card stock to fit the pocket using a Cricut Maker. The circles come out perfectly that way. Decorate the card stock however you'd like! These were gifts from my elementary school aged boys to their many cousins. Make a jig using the ornament body svg file, then set up on your Workstation for infinite repeatability. Before cutting the engraving I covered each piece with Oramask - which made the painting much cleaner and easier. I used enamel paint then finished the ornaments with a touch of Walrus Oil.
