Shaper with factory 1/4" bit
This same file is used to cut the bone and to cut the inlay, so be sure to pick the cut type accordingly. I did the following steps but there are a bunch of ways you could do it: Took 3/4" thick scrap and cut the bone shape using 3 passes at .005" offset and a final full depth pass at 0 offset. Took this bone and ran it through the bandsaw to produce 2 approx 3/8" thick inlays. Did 2 passes on the board to accept the inlays again using .005" offset and then a full depth pass at 0 offset. At this point the inlay would not insert by hand. I then did a final -0.003" full depth pass and the inlay started by hand with nice resistance and was tapped in place to full depth using a block and mallet. The Origin is amazing. I've never done an inlay in my life, and I can't imagine getting a better fit than this rookie attempt.
