10"X15" hardwood. Min 4/4 thickness. I used 5/4 American Elm.

This is a pretty straight forward project. Basically just cut the pockets and then roundover the outside edges. You want the pockets to be at least 3/4" deep which is why I suggest a material thickness of at least 4/4. I used the upcut spiral bit for all the pocketing which took forever. I'd suggest you have a bigger bottom clearing bit to save some time. For the outside cuts I did a 1/4" pass with my upcut spiral bit and then cut it out with the bandsaw and used the flush trim bit to finish. You can do the whole thing with the 1/4" bit if you want. Be sure to use offsets. Even with that, I got some burning around the laces. I used mineral oil as a finish since it will likely come in direct contact with food.
