In the woodworking field of pressure casting resins, a popular (slightly) modified paint pot has cover clamps that are a bit hard to achieve full clamping force because of their relatively small size. There are some after market "knobs" designed to slip over the clamp wings that allow the hand to get a better grip for tightening. This file is a simple wood version of a very effective clamping knob.

Materials

3/4" plywood scraps

Tools

1/8" router bit (with flute length 3/4"+)

Instructions

Rout from the backside as bit deflection will give very slight but noticeable taper (Which in this case is good for a nice snug fit. These particular clamps are securely pressed in ) The round hole in the center is separate from the slot for two reasons, 1 to allow for helix cutting, 2 to allow a blind hole that does not show from the top (set helix depth to 0.6")(In these pix, the hole is fully through) The outside can be cut outside, on line or inside. The nominal diameter is 3". I have fairly large hands, my personal preference is on line with the 1/8" bit.
