Serving tray with Lake Michigan engraving and box joints.

3/4" wood for sides
1/4" wood for bottom

Cut out the frame using 3/4" wood. Use 1/4" wood for the bottom. Use an 1/8" bit to cut out the letters and fill with epoxy. Once the frame is cut out, make the dado cut for the bottom in each side piece. I then used the on screen box joint guide to cut out the box joints.
