42nd birthday coaster/inlay
I made a coaster, but you could also make a sign etc… A quick project with just some text around the number 42, in this case, the famous Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy quote… For anyone turning 42, or any Douglas Adams fans…

Materials
A piece of wood the size you intend ( coaster might be around 100mm/4 in)
Optional: epoxy or paint for inlay (I did not)
Optional: cork for coaster underside
Tools
6/8mm or lager for pocket cut
Engraving bit for font
Instructions
I did this on the workstation for convenience… - pocket main coaster area (3mm pocket inside circle) - sand pocket - engrave font - cut coaster free (7mm offset on circle exterior) - glue cork to bottom side - sand everything - round over edges (2mm) - finish (clear coat / oil)
