Initially inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, Ensemble is a collection of shapes that can be used as an alternative to traditional bowties/butterflies, patches, and inlays. Much like Kintsugi, these forms celebrate imperfections rather than completely hiding them. A number of the shapes are specially designed to span and stabilize checks and splits in wood.
