Correlate Trivet
Made from a single, solid board of hardwood, Correlate is a trivet intricately cut on both sides. Offset lines and concentric arcs, gradually increasing in size with each move outward, create a motif for the piece. The same series is flipped and relocated to an opposing plane, bringing out the illusion of a moiré effect. As the visual elements overlap and coincide, the negative space through and between them reveals a hidden pattern within a set of patterns.

- 1/4” up-spiral router bit (Shaper standard)
- 60° engraving router bit (Shaper standard)

The use of a custom fixture, detailed in the PDF instructions, simplifies the process while ensuring the required accuracy in a flip operation.
