Instructions

It makes sense to fixture your wooden board so that you're able to insert the bottles while your workpiece is still mounted. I let mine hang over the tabletop and secured it with double sided tape and two screws. The bottle holder is divided into a top and a bottom layer. The top layer is recessed slightly to give the bottles' brims a place to rest on. Start by milling one of the five holes (either using roughing cutter + end mill on the final pass or just the end mill for now) with an offset (e.g. 0.5mm). Cut the upper (smaller) layer to a depth of 6mm and the lower (larger) one all the way through (15mm in my case). Check if a bottle fits in. Next, start adjusting that offset in small steps (and only using the end mill). As soon as the bottle clicks in with some force, stop and take note of the offset. Don't worry if it's a little tight for now, a few dozen cycles will enlarge the narrow part of the holes during usage and you can always sand/file afterwards if it's still too tight. Cut both layers to 2mm less than their final depth (so 4mm & 13mm) with the roughing cutter and an offset of ~0.8mm. Afterwards, finish the upper layer using the end mill, 6mm depth and the offset you noted before. Same goes for the lower layer (15mm depth, noted offset). Give the edges a quick sand and add holes with a cordless drill or drill press. I didn't include them into the design because the kitchen cabinet I mounted it to had some keep-out zones and I could only drill the holes in-situ. Enjoy your upgraded living space WITHOUT Sodastream bottles standing around everywhere ;) Have fun!
