Instructions

Find a suitable base material for the 4 feet (wooden rod/board) and, if necessary, adjust the hole diameter in the Trivet .svg file (you can also do that later on Origin using offsets, just don't go considerably larger than 25mm). Determine how long your feet need to be - I sunk mine t=12mm deep into the trivet and let them stick out 6mm, so I cut them out of an 18mm birch board. Cut your feet and add a small bevel to one side so they slide in nicely during assembly. Cut the foot holes, the slots and the outline (simultaneously, so you only have to switch from your roughing cutter to the end mill once). Foot holes: Pocketing to t=12mm with an 8mm roughing cutter, final pass (t=12mm) with 6mm end mill. Work your way towards a tight fit (keep testing with your pre-cut feet) using offset 0.2, 0.1, 0, ... Slots: I did 3 passes (6mm, 12mm, 16mm) with my 8mm roughing cutter and 0 offset. The last pass (19mm) was done with the 6mm end mill included with Origin and a negative offset of 0.4mm to clean up the slots' surfaces and smooth out the jitters from the quick roughing passes. Outline: 3 passes with roughing cutter and 0.8mm offset, final pass with 6mm end mill and 0 offset If desired, round the outer edges of your workpiece with a conventional router + roundover bit. Sand the surface and the edges. Next, apply wood glue to the foot holes and gently hammer the four feet in. Keep checking if the trivet rocks over two diagonal feet, if so, hammer those two feet in a tiny bit deeper. After the wood glue has dried, apply a finish of your liking. I used kitchen-grade waterproof oil. Let the oil dry and gift it to a special person :) Have fun!
