Softwood, Dimensions LxWxH 650x137x74mm or similar (design can be adjusted)
Shaper Origin Conventional router with roundover bit Optional: Shaper Workstation Roughing Cutter (e.g. 8mm 2-flute) Conventional router with copy cutter Sander
Start by machining your stock to a cuboid (dimensions on the left). If your dimensions are a bit different, simply adjust the design, some tolerance is included. In case you want to add some text to the underside of your fingerboard, do that first using the V-cut bit. If you're using the Shaper Workstation, a ratchet strap can help fixate the wooden beam. Next, rotate the beam so that the "top" (finger holes) side is facing upwards. Continue with the text in the center if you want to add, for example, someone's name there. Switch to your 8mm roughing cutter (or 6mm end mill) and start cutting the finger holes (depth t=10mm and t=50mm) and the 6 mounting holes (t=27mm or whatever fits your screw heads). CAUTION: Most cutters can't cut to a depth of 50mm! You have several options: a) Cut only the first ~10mm with the Shaper Origin and do the rest of the depth passes with a conventional router + copy cutter, b) buy a longer cutter or c) add a "step" (small inset/dilation) to the 50mm holes so that your shorter bit can cut all the way without colliding with the wall. More info: https://community.shapertools.com/t/cutter-lengths/7346 Continue by rounding the edges with a conventional router and a roundover bit. Add color to the text with a brush and sand away the excess paint after it's dry. Finish the 6 screw holes with a drill press. Be cautious when adding oil/wax/finish to the fingerboard holes, you don't want them to be too slippery. Or...do you?
