This simple project uses eight identical pieces cut from a 1/2" thick 4" by 14" board. The .SVG file is set for a 1/2" depth of cut. I recommend that you mill your board slightly less than 1/2" so they will just fit into the 1/2" slots. Use a 1/8" diameter bit in order to minimize the size of radius cuts on the inside corners. Use a square edge file to remove the six 1/16" radius inside corners on each piece that are left by using the 1/8" diameter bit. This project works well with autopass or bench pilot. Assembling the trivet can be a bit fiddley. This is the best process I have found. First arrange the inner four pieces as per the picture. Then add the first edge piece and ensure it is properly seated. Add the second edge piece by starting at the corner of the first edge piece with the second piece at a slight angle. Rotate the second piece into position intersecting one cross piece at a time until it is properly seated. Use your fingers to align each joint as the piece is rotated into place. Continue around the edge with the third and fourth pieces. Once assembled use a thin cyanoacrylate glue on the edge joints.
