1" 4x8" hardwood
- Cut a blank exactly 8" wide. This is important to help ensure your cut lines up when you flip the piece. - anchor piece against a side to ensure it's in the same position when you flip it. - Start by cutting the bottom out. Cut to 0.5" if you have a 1" thick piece of wood. To cut the bigger cylinder cuts do an inner cut with increasing offsets of 0.2. I didn't design this properly to allow a pocket cut. - Flip the piece - Cut the inner part of the phone slot to 0.55". It should cut through to the other side. - Inner cut the bigger phone slot to a depth of 0.375" - Outer cut the outline down to 1" or to the thickness of your piece. Note: If you can do this with a 0.75" piece. You will probably just need to play with the depth you want your phone to sit in the slot. Leave about a 0.125" gap and then pocket the other side to 0.25". If you want a bit more height you can reduce the phone slot depth accordingly. Pop in your phone and enjoy some tunes! I originally intended to make this out of two pieces of 1" glued together. You can use this design to do this. In building this, I realized I actually like the simpler more minimal design and the sound quality is about the same. This size makes it a lot easier to pop it in my bag for travel.
