Cublino is a strategy game that uses dice as the game pieces. The play board is a 7x7 matrix of pocketed squares.

Materials

Any type of wood. I used Walnut board. A piece 200mm (8") wide and long enough to support the Origin is needed. You need two sets of 7 dice in different colours. I bought two packs of 30 (six different colours) sized at 16mm from Amazon.

Tools

Shaper Origin

Tapeboard (or maybe use Workstation)

Shaper 3mm cutter

Shaper 6mm cutter

Festool Script cutter D11/60 degrees (part 491002) or the Shaper script cutter is probably okay

Instructions

** Update 27th July 2022. I ended up using Osmo 1101 clear transparent wood wax to finish the boards. Recommended for black walnut; looks and feels great. Expensive but a little goes a long way. ** Update 4th July 2022. Since the pockets should be cut first, I have saved a new version of the game board file appropriately colour-coded. After the forty-nine pockets are cut it will be necessary to change the cut type to Inside to complete each square and then an Outside Cut for the full board. This is tedious but I can't think of a way around it. Affinity Design file also uploaded. The process is straightforward and the project can be completed using just the Origin. First tape the boards as required and fix to your spoilboard with double-sided tape. Import and place the board design. You may choose to use the Workstation of course. I kept the text design (with the name 'Cublino') separate to allow it to be excluded or placed where desired. The font is a Single Line Font ('Architect' from singlelinefonts.com). The forty-nine squares should be cut initially with 'pocket cuts', followed by 'inside cuts' to complete. Use the standard 3mm cutter. I cut the squares to a depth of 3mm. Add the text if wanted. I used the Festool Script cutter cutting to a depth of 0.15mm. I find this cutter better for fine detail than the Shaper script cutter but YMMV. When these steps are completed, cut the perimeter of the board using the 6mm cutter with an 'outside cut' in multiple passes and an offset of 0.5mm. I prefer to cut 4mm at a time. Make the final cut with zero offset. After sanding, finish as desired. I will most likely use Osmo Top Oil.
