Festool published a plan for a supplemental blade cover. "For special work (e.g. groove cuts) you have to cover the saw blade..." I plan to use the guard to allow for a taller miter fence that doesn't fit under the standard blade guard. And for a zero clearance miter fence. This project has the SVG from the Festool design. I have also added some optional holes for storage.

12" x 12" x 1/4" Plexiglas
(2) M6 - 1.00 x 16 screws
(4) M6 Fender Washers
(2) M6 nuts
or
M6 - 1.00 x20 screws if you add a 1/4" height spacer
1/8” X 1/2” UP-SPIRAL O-FLUTE ROUTER BIT
Here’s a link to the guard in use: https://youtu.be/S5qvvUkvLro The plans call for 5mm thick plexiglas. I used 1/4" as it was available from the big box store. I used metric bolts and nuts in place of the Festool hardware shown in their video. These work very well. Choose the length needed depending on the thickness of the plexiglas used. Because I have a TSO miter fence accessory that is taller than the stock SYS 50 miter fence I added a spacer to give clearance for the miter gauge.
