Simple wood tongs or "Toaster Tongs" for when you need to pull something out of the toaster; cooking bacon, fishing something out of the stovetop, etc. Makes a good Christmas stocking stuffer.

Center Angle Base: (1) 1-1/2" x 10" x 3/4" hardwood if cutting 4 or more pieces.
Sides: 3/4" hardwood - enough to cut 1/8" thick pieces for your project. Sides are 1/8" x 3/4" x 10"
Water-resistant glue
Cutting board oil or food-safe finish of your choice.
Shaper Origin to cut angled base pieces.

Set up to make whatever number of tongs you want. I made 4 to make it worth my time. Use the SO to cut the center angled bases. (Make sure you secure the material well!) I placed the shapes down the center of the board. I also used a 1/8" bit that could cut 3/4" deep and used *no* offset as the small pieces want to break loose and spin on the cleanup pass. Cut the side pieces to dimension: 1/8" x 3/4" x 10". You can cut one end to an angle if desired. These are cut at 30 degrees. Glue sides to angled base, preferably using water-resistant glue. Round over the base of the tongs with sander, soften any sharp edges and finish sand. Finish with food-safe finish of your choice. I used Walrus Cutting Board Oil.
