Sometimes it helps to question & reinterpret what is already there - in order to be able to use the traditional in an alternative design context. - a wood joint based on the traditional (daimochi) tsugi, to join wooden beams lengthways -

Materials

- solide wood (preferably hard wood)

dimension: (300) × 50 × 50mm (two pieces)

for the joint

- solide wood (preferably hard wood)

dimension: 60 × 50 × 50mm (one block)

for the pin

- adhesive tape

- some sacrificial/waste material (3mm MDF)

- ("Complex" oil based surface coat)

Tools

- basic handtools, measuring tool & clamps

- Shaper Origin (+Workstation) & standard router bits:

6mm spiral upcut router bit (shaper standard)

6mm spiral upcut router bit (total lenth of ~80mm)

8mm spiral upcut router bit

engraving cutter (shaper standard)

- basic Tools to apply an oil based surface finish
