To improve the organization of my tools in my small workshop, I've bought a tool trolley from the german company BGS. The type of the trolley is 4103, a model with 11 drawers. The size of the drawers is 569 mm * 470 mm. Ten of the drawers have a height of 54 mm, the 11th of 170 mm. I plan to produce shadowboards for all the shallow drawers by shaping the corresponding shape of the tools in 30 mm two-colored PE rigid foam inlays.

Instructions

The first step is to make a jig for the foam inlays in the size you need for your drawers. The height of the jig should be the same as of your foam inlays. You can shape the cutout with the Shaper Origin. I've added rounded cutouts in the corners, so you can easily insert and remove the foam in and out, and additionally create the grid for the Origin by probing the workpiece edges. The first time I've used a 6 mm Sorotec foam router bit with three flutes. With that bit I could cut the full depth in one turn and increase the feed rate to 400 mm/min. This shadowboard contains the follwing tools: upper row: - Hazet 1963-2 Hand riveting tool mid section: - 1st: Knipex 72 02 125 Diagonal Cutter for plastics - 2nd: Ruko Unigrat set E - 3rd: Loewe 3.606 Cable duct cutter with 45° and 90° stop face pair and screw above lower row, from left: - 1st: Knipex 74 02 180 High Leverage Diagonal Cutter - 2nd: Knipex 82 02 200 TwinGrip Slip Joint Pliers - 3rd: Lux Wire Rope Cutter - 4th: Knipex 50 01 210 Carpenters' Pincers - 5th: Knipex 71 22 200 CoBolt® Compact Bolt Cutter - 6th: Knipex 61 02 200 Bolt End Cutting Nipper High lever transmission - 7th: Bahco 2635 Revolving Wad Punches
