My best friend is a huge Parrothead - a Jimmy Buffett fan for the uninitiated. She has a beach themed deck so in JB’s honor I made this clock, my first, as a gift for her. This is the first iteration so if you make improvements or changes please post them. I will do the same. Have fun!

Instructions

I had a few 18 1/2” round blanks from a project so I used one. I suggest a square piece for ease of setup. BACK 1. Tape down your blank BACK up and add shaper tape as needed. Scan and grid your piece. 2. Create a box on-tool the size of your mechanism. Mine was 4” square. Center this on the blank. This will be pocketed to your chosen depth. **Please see note at the end. 3. Create a hole in the center of the box the diameter of the shaft. This hole will go through. FRONT 1. Tape down your blank FACE up and add shaper tape as needed. Scan and grid. 2. Place the file. 3. Engrave characters and text. 4. Cut out clock. 5. Finish to taste. Parrotheads love color and this is a bit muted but I used a lot of her favorite colors as this isn’t intended to be biologically accurate LOL. **Measure the thickness of your mechanism plus the length of the shaft, decide how much the shaft needs to be proud of the face for the hands, this will determine the depth of your pocket. The mechanism will protrude from the back so you need to compensate for hanging. There are lots of ways to do that. I had a matching round blank so I just cut a “ring” to fit around the back which resolved my problem and doubled as a hanger.
