Shaper Workstation Clamping Jig

I created this jig after a few failures of double-sided tape on the otherwise fabulous Workstation and issues with clamps getting in the way of the Shaper. It works well for clamping pieces for mortising or engraving when they are deep and held securely against the vertical face of the workstation. Refer notes section for a suggested improvement.

Materials

600mm x 400mm x 18mm thick MDF

Tools

- Shaper Origin

- Low profile Bench dogs / inline clamps (I used T-deer model clamps ordered from Alibaba - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32417948399.html)

Instructions

**25th May update - I've updated the svg file as the previous version was scaled bizarrely by Illustrator when it exported, no idea why. All good now, apologies to anyone who downloaded the earlier version** - Adjust the offset fit of the holes to match your bench dogs / clamps. - Plunge the depth of the outer 13mm circles of the mounting holes to 14mm deep - All other holes cut through full depth **With regards improvements to the jig i'd probably do the following changes in mk2** The main flaw with the jig is when working on wider pieces there is a couple of degrees deflection in the tray / top surface of the workstation. This may or may not be an issue but one possible change is to increase the width of the jig and clamp across between an inline clamp and a pair of bench dogs then using some light perpendicular pressure to hold the workpiece against the workstation. Would love to see people take this one and develop their own version. Cheers Bryan
