Inspired by some of my luthier buddies on Instagram to actually build myself a proper block to hold frets for the fret installation process part of building a guitar. Its a small thing but for some reason it feels good man. If you make this or find this helpful let me know! Hit me up on IG : Akm_guitarworks

Materials

Block of wood / material of your choosing

Wood finish of choice (I use Odies Oil and Waxes)

Tools

1/4 router bit

engraving bit of choice

Instructions

Step 1 : Choose your material - note the thickness (I chose this punky decaying Koa since this offcut has gone unused for years) Step 2 : Load the plan in the unit or cloud and import onto workspace Step 3 : inlay, engrave and do all embellishments prior to cutting out the entire block Step 4 : use the 1/4 router bit to helix/or plunge cut the holes (I did 3/4 in depth) Step 5 : Sand and Finish with your choice of wood finish (I've been using Odies Oil for all my projects and guitars for about 9 years now) For the chamfered holes - Use a wider engraving bit like a V60 or V90 and switch the cut type to "On Line" and play with the depth of cut. For mine I used 0.1in with the shaper tools engraving bit. For the signature (not included) I used a 20 degree bit and a default engraving depth of 0.02 in which is standard on the Origin. Took about 10-15 min with one coat of Odies oil and wax applied. Follow me on IG: @Akm_guitarworks www.akmguitarworks.com
