6mm (1/4") PVC sheet. Other plastics can be used, but keep in mind that two pieces have to be glued together. Some plastics are difficult to glue.
Shaper Origin, 1/2" straight cut bit, 1/8" one flute spiral up-cut bit.
A holder is comprised of two parts glued together. The thick part is 4.3 mm in thickness and the thin part is 2 mm. Cutting this from a 6mm (1/4") sheet is done in multiple steps, there many ways to do it. The keychain hole and the perimeter of the part are cut with the 1/8" bit. I have build many for friends and family and arrived to a sequence of operations that worked very good with all the pocketing done with a big 1/2" bit starting with a helix cut for the big hole because the 1/2" cannot plunge in normal but but plunges ok in helix mode. The keychain hole is 1/4" and I used the shank of a drill bit as a guide to glue the two parts together. For the glue I used a solvent (acetone) based glue. I think the PVC pipe cleaner should work ok. Using a 1/4" drill shank bring the parts very close together and put a few drops of solvent around the seam. Capillarity will suck and distribute the solvent, then clamp, wait a few seconds, remove the shank and adjust the clamp to apply pressure to all the glued surface for a few minutes.
