MDF at least 1/4" thicker and at least 6" wider than the linoleum block on all sides
Printing materials:
paper
block printing ink
palette paper (or other surface for mixing ink)
brayer
baren (or wooden spoon)
Shaper Origin
1/4" cutter
1/8" straight sided cutter
Make the block: 1. Cut a pocket the size and depth of the linoleum block into your MDF 2. Place the linoleum block inside this pocket. This will allow you to support origin evenly while cutting the block. 3. Cut! Notes for block cutting: 1. In the svg the black areas are the areas you should cut away and will be blank in the resulting print. White areas are raised areas where the ink will be applied. 2. The svg is not perfectly encoded for the design so you may have to adjust cut types and offsets depending on how you'd like your resulting print to look. 3. You will want to use the smallest bit you have for the small details and a larger bit for the empty space in the background. Print making instructions: 1. Take your block out of the MDF. 2. Apply ink to the palette paper and mix 3. Roll brayer in ink and roll on palette paper to remove excess ink. When you have the perfect amount of ink it will sound like velcro when you roll the brayer. 4. Use brayer to roll ink over block. Try to not get ink in any of the recessed areas. 5. Lay paper over block. 6. Rub baren, wooden spoon, or the heel of your hand over the back of the paper firmly and evenly to transfer ink to the paper 7. Carefully peel the paper off then let dry for amount of time specified by your ink.
