Wood of desired thickness Kraftex Extra Strong Magnetic Tape Glue
1/8" cutter
This bit holder works equally well with screwdriver bits as with router bits. The holes are sized for screwdriver bits so be sure to add some offset to make the holes smaller if it will be used for router bits. I found that 5/8" thick wood worked well for screwdriver bits Start by cutting the rectangular pocket. The corners of the pocket as designed are too sharp for a 1/4" cutter, but a 1/4" cutter should work fine. Cut your pocket slightly shallower than the thickness of your magnet, 3.5mm works well for the linked magnets. When cutting the holes use helix mode and increase the speed and plunge rate to save time. Remove the adhesive from the magnet strips and cut them in half, resulting in 2 strips 150mm long each. The magnets can be found on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B073519752?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title). Trim the corners and test fit before gluing. Glue the magnets in using a minimal amount of strong glue like JB Weld, applied so that there will be minimal squeeze out into the bit holes. I used a toothpick to place a small dot of glue around the perimiter of the magnet and it has been holding well. Make sure to orient the magnet with the shiny side to the glue as the magnet is strongest on the shiny side. There are currently 4 versions of the file, 2 each in square or diagonal patterns, sized to fit 1/4" bits/cutters or 1/8" cutters. The overall size of each is identical so if you want to mix and match hole patterns on a single block you should be able to grid your workspace and place multiple files on top of each other and only cut the holes you want.
