3/4" of base material
1/16" or 3/32 thick material for inlay

1/4" bit for cutting the final part out
1/16" bit for the inlay. Something like https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004T7B2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Cut the pieces to be inlaid first. When you cut the holes in the base, make them at least 1/32 shallower than your material used for the inlays. Test fit the pieces and adjust accordingly. When it comes time for glue-up, you'll probably have to press the inlay pieces down to stop them from curling up from the moisture in the glue. When sanding, leave the inlay pieces proud of the base for a 3D look. You can either use a keyhole bit on the back or some other mount if you'd like to hang it on a wall.
