I created some forms to help me with the mortar for a brick wall. It help by creating a consistent mortar thickness and shape. I created three forms; One for the vertical side of a brick, one for doing the mortar on the bottom of a single row of bricks and one for doing the mortar on a double row of bricks. In the end, I just used the form for a single row of bricks.

Materials

I used HDPE for durability but wood could be used too. You should pick a thickness for the material that is slightly thicker and the final mortar thickness you'd like to account for it being squished by the weight of the bricks.

Instructions

Position the form where you'd like to place the bricks. Fill the form with mortar and then scrape any excess off the form with a trowel. Lift the form and the mortar is ready for a brick to be placed on it.
