Instructions

Included 'Keyhole.PDF' file can be edited if you have a different bit or want to change the length, etc.. This PDF is Adobe Illustrator native, but should be editable in other 2D Vector software as well. The paths can also be copied and pasted into another vector file if you want to add two of these slots for the back side of a sign for example. 1. The custom anchor in the cut file is located at the top center of the screw slot. Using a grid and numerical input for X and Y you can locate this as desired on your workpiece. 2. Cut the keyhole shape as an inside cut using subsequent depth passes to final desired depth using a standard 1/4" upcut bit. This will clear the majority of material so that your keyhole bit is only removing the undercut areas of the keyhole slot. 3. Cut the long u-shaped on-line cut using your keyhole bit. Plunge to full depth at either end of the path, follow the path up around and back to the beginning, and retract. Be sure not to stray off course or retract midway along the path as the 'head' of your keyhole bit will be buried in your material. I typically try to keep Origin in place and use Auto cut by holding the green button as much as possible.
