Materials

1/2" stock would work great ( stock 1/8" cutter can not cut deeper than 1/2" )

plastic syringes

graduated measuring cups

resin ( in our case tap plastics Ultra Glo epoxy resin for indoor use only)

pigments

optional led backlight

double sided tape

spray shellac

Tools

1/8" cutter

Instructions

Cut everything with an 1/8" cutter Use the inverted file if you intend to resin pour from the rear of the stock then reveal by sanding the front as demonstrated in the recent session. Cut all geometry in passes down to just shy of your stock thickness ( 0.45" would work for 1/2" stock ) Scrape and sand can vacume out the bottom face of the pockets to remove any fuzz / dust. Spray the pocketed areas with spray shellac ( be sure to seal all surfaces the resin will contact. ) Wait for 15 - 20 mins between coats, ( 2 coats ought to be enough ) Mix up your resin and pigments and fill the pocketed areas with the syringe. Wait for resin to set completely before sanding the rear flat, then flipping and thickness sanding the front until the resin layer is revealed. Sand and finish. [optional] Create a 12" square by 2 - 3" box to enclose backlight leds, or just leave the panel as is ( front lit )
