Instructions

Cut the interior shapes to the depths defined. Test fits as you go. adjust your offsets to taste. Note: you want the bottom to have a little friction and the top to be very loose, so there is no chance of the eraser etc binding in the top when its removed. The top dowel alignment holes need to remain low friction, with no play. In scrap wood cut a hole 0.75" deep and counter sink the top ( this will enable you to cut and remove your dowels to the correct depth ) Use the pencil sharpener to chamfer an end of the dowel, Insert the pointed dowel in the scrap wood hole and cut it flush with a fine pull saw. repeat 4 times. Cut all the elements out, Sand the top and embellish with whatever engraving you wish. Glue the dowels in, and give the exterior a quick sand. ( with both parts now firmly aligned ) knock the sharp edges of everything with a sanding block at 45 degrees. finish with whatever you wish, this was finished with odies oil and leave separated till they cure.
