Materials

1. 1" White Oak, at least 31" by 6"

2. 1" copper pipe fitting

3. Rubber stopper

4. Finish (I used Rubio Monocoat Fumed and White)

5. Epoxy (I used West Systems)

Tools

1. 1/4" cutter

Instructions

1. Make outside cuts in 1/4" passes with 0.03" offset. Follow up with a finish pass at full depth and 0" offset. 2. Use a 1/2" roundover bit to carefully round over all edges. 3. Sand until you simply can't sand anymore. 4. Apply finish, in this case, Rubio Monocoat Fumed followed by White. 5. Insert cane into copper pipe fitting with a liberal amount of epoxy. 6. Whittle down rubber stopper to fit inside of copper pipe fitting.
